Lloyd Center
Awarded $2,500 Grant from the Community
Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts
The Community Foundation of Southeastern
Massachusetts has awarded the Lloyd Center
for the Environment a grant of $2500. This
grant, given through the Community
Foundation’s Rainy Day Fund, has been given
to the Lloyd Center to purchase picnic
tables and benches. The new benches and
picnic tables will provide seating for the
Center’s many visitors including the large
classes of elementary students, and their
chaperones, who regularly come to the
premises on nature fieldtrips. In addition,
strategically placed benches along the
trails and at scenic overlooks will
significantly increase visitor enjoyment.
The fund’s generous donors are certainly
making a difference.
Based in New Bedford, MA, the Community
Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts was
launched in 1995 by a group of dedicated
volunteers who wanted to create a new avenue
for encouraging philanthropy in Southeastern
Massachusetts. The Community Foundation's
mission is to improve and protect the
quality of life in our region by promoting
collaboration and understanding among all
members of the community; providing a
flexible permanent vehicle for donors with
diverse interests; protecting the
community’s endowment through prudent
investment and effective stewardship;
expanding the community’s endowment through
appropriate solicitation; and ascertaining
community needs and opportunities and acting
as an informed grantmaker.
