Mello Selected by National Park Service to Conduct Cape Cod Survey

Mark Mello, Director of Research at the Lloyd Center and nationally renowned lepidopterist has been selected by the National Park Service to conduct a survey, mapping the distribution of a state-listed moth, the water-willow stem borer (Papaipema sulphurata), within the diked systems of Truro’s East Harbor and Wellfleet’s Herring River. This important project in the Cape Cod National Seashore will be financed by a grant to the Lloyd Center from the trustees of the Massachusetts Environmental Trust. Mello has regularly conducted lepidopteron surveys for the Commonwealth’s Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program.
