Watershed Watch
Make a difference in water pollution prevention!

This program allows students to visualize how polluted water travels through two interactive models. The Watershed model depicts a town complete with a neighborhood, golf course, farm, factory, and the town’s reservoir. It shows students how different pollutants can end up in their drinking water supply. This model also leads students to their own solutions for preventing and controlling water pollution.

The ground water flow model gives students the opportunity to see what happens to water underground. It shows a cross section of an aquifer complete with test wells, observation wells, and injection wells for adding the ‘pollutants.’ Polluted water is represented by food dye, this allows students to see first-hand how it can travel underground and into a water supply. This program is an excellent way to raise consciousness about your town’s drinking water supply and allows students to discover how water travels to your faucet!

Explore the internal anatomy of a horseshoe crab!

Lydia is an anatomically correct 3-foot, replica of a horseshoe crab. An animated hands-on guided tour through the internal organs of this model enables students to learn about complex biological concepts in an interactive setting. Students will
also discover the history of the horseshoe crab and have an informal introduction to basic taxonomy.

Lydia is an excellent tool to demonstrate the importance of all living species. Students will learn the correct way to observe and handle crabs when they come upon them in their natural habitat. This program instills a respect for all creatures and allows students to enjoy getting their hands on learning.

A dynamic hands-on guided tour through the insides of this seven-foot flounder enables students to learn about complex concepts in an interactive setting. Students learn about comparative anatomy, adaptation, and camouflage. In addition to Flexi, a real
flounder dissection is available at an additional fee.

Estuary on Wheels
Live estuarine animals in the classroom!

Estuary on Wheels is a unique, hands-on program that brings the estuary into your classroom! Students discover first-hand the adaptations of marine organisms by handling and observing live specimens and artifacts such as shells, egg cases, and fish bones. Focusing on habitat and adaptation, Estuary on Wheels is a great way to introduce marine science to young students.

Delphi the Whale
Bring a life-size whale into your classroom!

Delphi is seventeen-foot wooden model of a Pilot Whale skeleton. The program starts off with a half-hour slide show that familiarizes students with marine mammals. Following the slide show, students will participate in small group activities that focus on taxonomy and whale size.

All the information the students have learned culminates in the cooperative assembly of Delphi! Lloyd Center staff will guide the students through the assemblage of the model. To top it off, students will be able to see and touch marine mammal pieces including baleen, teeth, and bones. The program ends with a question and answer session. Delphi is an exciting learning experience for younger and older students alike!
